Phillies Rallies From Behind to Beat Rockies 4-3

Game Monday between the Phillies and the Rockies witnessed a see saw battle between the two teams and the late two home runs by the Phillies made them worthy winners of this gripping contest. The Phillies picked up this win in the 10th innings of the game to set up a winning record of four games in a trot. So far, the Phillies have managed to win 10 of their 13 outings this season. The game was tied at the 9th innings courtesy of a two run homer by John Mayberry Jr. off closer Huston Street. The Phillies were very much elated by this super strike from Mayberry so late in the game.
Shane Victorino’s last inning shot for a homer against the rookie left hand Rockies player Rx Brothers sealed the game for the Phillies. Victorino felt that the last ball that he hit for a homer was a quick one that a little bit on the upper side. This enabled him to swing the bat widely at the ball and as it got connected he felt that it could go the distance that all the Phillies fans were hoping for. Victorino pointed his bat at his parents sitting in the gallery immediately after scoring the home run. It was a proud moment for his Hawaiian parents to witness their son makes the winning home run for his team’s cause.
The Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was an elated man. He feels that the team has been playing so long in the MLB season and hence is able to adapt well to close games. He was happy that character and attitude was displayed by most of his players during the match. Rockies manager Jim Tracy was quick to acknowledge the strength and the powerful performance of the opponent team. Street was the culprit as far as the Rockies were concerned as his eighth slider to Mayberry in the ninth inning was lofted into the left field stands for a two home runs. This shot should have definitely hurt Street very badly. Mayberry said what he had achieved what he was looking for in this game. As a bench warmer, he knew that if given a chance he would have to make the best of the opportunity given to him. This is what he did at last and the result for his dedication and hard work over the past few weeks have paid off.
